Looking for a Smart Quarterback
submitted by Jason

Barry Switzer was getting so frustrated with the way the Cowboys were
playing this year that finally got desperate and came out to San
Francisco to ask Steve Mariucci for advice. So he goes up to Mariucci and says,
"So, Steve, your team has been so successful this year and you're only a
rookie coach. What's your secret?"
In response, the 49er coach calls over Steve Young and asks him, "Steve,
who is your father's brother's nephew?" Young answers, "Well, of course,
that would be me!"
Mariucci turns to Switzer and says, "See, the key to a successful team is
a smart quarterback."
So Barry Switzer goes back to Dallas, happy that he has finally
discovered the key to a winning team. When he gets back, he calls over Troy Aikman
and asks him, "Troy, who is your father's brother's nephew?"
Troy stands there for a few minutes, obviously trying to figure out the
answer to this puzzle. Then he says, "Coach, this is kind of a hard
question. Can you give me a little time to think it over?"
Switzer says he can have ten minutes to come back with an answer. He's a
little bit worried that Aikman hadn't come up with an answer right away,
but he has confidence that his quarterback will eventually figure it out.
So Troy Aikman leaves Barry Switzer, and runs down the field to where
Deion Sanders is practicing. He says, "Deion, you gotta help me here. The coach
has asked me a really hard question and I have to go back with an answer
in ten minutes. The question is - Who is your father's brother's nephew?"
Sanders replies, "Well, of course, that would be me!"
So Aikman jogs back to Switzer and says proudly, "I've come up with the
answer coach - My father's brother's nephew is...Deion Sanders!"
Barry gets very red in the face, throws his hat on the ground, jumps up
and down and yells, "No, you idiot...it's Steve Young!"
